Storebought Hummus

...usually disappoints.

I find them to be stiff, bland, gritty, stale, altogether yucky.

Of course my preference would be to make hummus from scratch.  It's such a great food.  Comforting texture, bright flavors of lemon, garlic and good olive oil.  It goes with so many vegetables and is delicious on flatbreads and crackers.  Eating hummus evokes outdoor dining, a sparkling view and a glass of rosè :)

For the days when I don't have time to make hummus from scratch (most days), I am pleased to have found...

Blogger Stats Error

It started a few days ago...when I access my Stats via the tab on the blogger.com dashboard I get the following error:

ERROR:  Possible problem with your *.gwt.xml module file.  The compile time user.agent value (ie8) does not match the runtime user.agent value (ie6).  Expect more errors.

I'm too new to this whole blogging thing and a complete idiot with regards to computers...so I don't know if this is having some sort of negative effect on what I do or how it's tracked.

I can see via Google that this problem is known and has popped up during the last week.  So far I one person has posted the problem on a blogger.com forum, but no solutions have been offered.

Any ideas?

Seeds

Last week I decided to put in a garden.

My commitment to growing food has ranged over the years from minimal to extreme...seventy-five tomato plants anyone?

The last time I had a sizable patch, with good diversity of plants, was in 2004.  It was very satisfying.  I was self-sufficient. The hard work outdoors bolstered me against stress and I provided fantastic, unique, organic produce to family and friends...from my little "farm."  Bounty :)

Hawaij

I like flavored coffee...but maybe not how you'd think.

Sometimes when I travel across the US,  it's hard to find coffee.  Actually, finding it isn't the problem. It's there...red can, blue can...with a reusable plastic lid.

Once, however, in a shopping mall, I was startled by the aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans.  On the chalkboard menu Iced Coffee sounded refreshing, as we were bundled up in winter clothes and the building's thermostat was set way too high.

"What flavor would you like?"
Flavor?  None, just coffee...ice...maybe some half and half.
"All of our iced coffee is flavored...hazelnut, chocolate, almond."
Vanilla seemed the least worst, until it was dispensed out of The Machine...a giant, spinning mess of coffee and "flavoring," pre-mixed with a dairy product...or non-...it was white.

Spending money on food and then throwing it away is probably some sort of sin.

Here You Go

...This is my blog.

I considered writing a journal.  But why write something and stick it in a drawer?

I want to teach...to communicate interesting tidbits, theories, news...to pass along facts and anecdotes. I want to expose people to new ideas...or give them incentive to act.
